ETFGI reports record assets and net inflows in Active ETFs world-wide of US$404 billion and US$88 billion respectively at the end of July 2021

 

LONDON August 27, 2021 — ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs and ETPs ecosystem, reports record assets and net inflows in Active ETFs world-wide of US$404 billion and US$88 billion respectively at the end of July.  Actively managed ETFs and ETPs gathered net inflows of US$6.00 billion during July, bringing year-to-date net inflows to a record US$88.23 billion. Assets invested in Active ETFs and ETPs finished the month up to 0.7%, from US$401 billion at the end of June to US$404 billion, according to ETFGI's July 2021 Active ETF and ETP industry landscape insights report, the monthly report which is part of an annual paid-for research subscription service. (All dollar values in USD unless otherwise noted.)

  • Record $404 Bn invested in actively managed ETFs and ETPs industry at end of July 2021.
     
  • Assets increased 41.75% YTD in 2021 going from $285.83 Bn at end of 2020 to $404 Bn.
     
  • Record YTD 2021 net inflows of $88.23 Bn beating prior record of $35.23 Bn gathered in YTD 2020.
     
  • $88.23 Bn in YTD net inflows are just $3 Bn below full year 2020 record net inflows of $91.10 Bn.
     
  • $144.09 Bn in net inflows gathered in the past 12 months.
     
  • 16th month of consecutive net inflows

“The S&P 500 gained 2.38% in July, despite concerns about a slowing economy, rising inflation and the possible impact of the COVID "delta variant".  Developed markets ex-U.S. gained 0.40% in July while Emerging markets were down by 5.59% in July.” According to Deborah Fuhr, managing partner, and founder of ETFGI.

Equity focused active ETFs/ETPs listed globally gathered net inflows of $2.64 Bn during July, bringing YTD net inflows to $40.24 Bn, more than the $12.41 Bn in net inflows equity products attracted for the year to July 2020. Fixed Income focused active ETFs/ETPs listed globally attracted net inflows of $2.40 Bn during July, bringing YTD net inflows to $37.62 Bn, much greater than the $20.32 Bn in net inflows fixed income products had attracted through July 2020.

 

Substantial inflows can be attributed to the top 20 active ETFs/ETPs by net new assets, which collectively gathered $4.70 Bn during July. JPMorgan Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPI US) gathered $809 Mn the largest net inflows.
