ETFGI reports record net inflows and assets invested in global ETFs industry of 1.67 Tn and 15.12 Tn US Dollars respectively at the end of November

LONDON — December 12, 2024 — ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm renowned for its expertise in subscription research, consulting services, events, and ETF TV on global ETF industry trends, reported record net inflows and record assets invested in the global ETFs industry of US$1.67 trillion and US$15.12 trillion respectively at the end of November. The global ETFs industry gathered US$219.95 billion in net inflows in November, bringing year to date net inflows to US$1.67 trillion, according to ETFGI's November 2024 global ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, the monthly report which is part of an annual paid-for research subscription service. Highlights
- Assets invested in the global ETFs industry reached a record of $15.12 Tn at the end of November beating the previous record of $14.46 Tn at the end of September 2024.
- Assets have increased 29.9% YTD in 2024, going from $11.63 Tn at end of 2023 to $15.12 Tn.
- Net inflows of $219.95 Bn gathered during November.
- YTD net inflows of $1.67 Tn is the highest on record, while the second highest recorded YTD net inflows was of $1.14 Tn in 2021 and the third highest recorded YTD net inflows of $802.75 Bn in 2023.
- YTD net inflows of $1.67 Tn are significantly greater than the full year record NNA of US$1.29 Tn in 2021.
- 66th month of consecutive net inflows.
“The S&P 500 index increased by 5.87% in November and is up 28.07% YTD in 2024. The developed markets excluding the US index increased by 0.11% in November and is up 6.77% YTD in 2024. Israel (up 8.86%) and US (up 6.46%) saw the largest increases amongst the developed markets in November. The emerging markets index decreased by 2.77% during November but is up 11.75% YTD in 2024. Indonesia (down 6.17%) and Philippines (down 6.05%) saw the largest decreases amongst emerging markets in November”, according to Deborah Fuhr, managing partner, founder, and owner of ETFGI.
Asset growth in the Global ETFs industry as of the end of November
At the end of November, the Global ETFs industry had 13,067 ETFs, with 26,079 listings, assets of $15.12 Tn, from 793 providers listed on 81 exchanges in 63 countries.
During November, ETFs gathered net inflows of $219.95 Bn. Equity ETFs reported net inflows of $154.34 Bn for November, bringing YTD net inflows to $960.85 Bn, much higher than the $397.66 Bn in YTD net inflows in 2023. Fixed income ETFs had net inflows of $15.61 Bn during November, bringing YTD net inflows to $298.18 Bn, higher than the $250.32 Bn in net inflows YTD in 2023. Commodities ETFs reported net outflows of $2.86 Bn during November, bringing YTD net inflows to $5.02 Bn, higher than the $15.37 Bn in net outflows YTD in 2023. Active ETFs attracted net inflows of $44.63 Bn during the month, gathering YTD net inflows of $332.53 Bn, higher than the $168.08 Bn in net inflows YTD in 2023.
Substantial inflows can be attributed to the top 20 ETFs by net new assets, which collectively gathered $96.99 Bn during November. Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO US) gathered $19.48 Bn, the largest individual net inflow.
